Brutal System Of Bonded Labor In Pakistan
A Short documentary film and threw light on the difficulties and hardships faced by the people who are stuck in this brutal system of bonded labor.
One of the laborers says in this video that he has been a victim of this system for the past many years. He is working along with his family on this brick kiln as he has taken a loan of 40,000 rupees from its owner and he is unable to repay such a big amount. So he has to work on this brick kiln day and night, in every circumstance, to make up his living. The owner of this kiln gives 450 rupees on making one thousand bricks and now he has increased the amount to 480 rupees per thousand bricks.
The laborer says that he cannot send his children to school and is unable to provide them with a good future despite his most wanted desires. He works with three of his sons and together they make six to seven thousand rupees a week. This money is not enough for his family as his sons are also married and have small children to feed. They hardly make a living and cannot get any health facility for themselves and their family.
The laborer says that four of his children are married and he did with the responsibility with much difficulty. The kiln owners do not let any of the laborers run away from the kiln and force them to work unless they pay their entire loan back. This vicious system of bonded labor is quite common in Pakistan and needs to be eliminated as soon as possible.
